The Wise Farmer's Daughter is a short Swiss fairy tale film by Rudolf Jugert from 1977. It is based on Grimm's fairy tale The Wise Farmer's Daughter .
action
A peasant and his clever daughter received a piece of land from the king after they had called on him. While working on the clod , the farmer's daughter finds a golden mortar , which the farmer wants to hand over to the king in gratitude for the farmland that has been left. Although his daughter advises against him, the farmer goes to the king, who, however, immediately wants to know where the associated pestle is and insinuates that he wants to suppress it. So the farmer ends up in prison. There he realizes that he should have listened to his daughter. When the guard reports to the king that the farmer keeps shouting: “Oh, I would have listened to my daughter,” he has the farmer brought to him, who tells him that his daughter predicted exactly what had happened now. As in the first audience , the king is amazed at the wisdom of the farmer's daughter and tells the farmer to send his daughter to him. When she comes to see him, he promises to marry her if she can solve the following riddle: "Come to me not dressed, not naked, not ridden, not gone, not driven, not on the way, not out of the way . “The farmer's daughter asks him to wait for her in front of the castle in an hour.
In fact, she appears there in a net-like robe sitting on a small ladder that is being pulled by a donkey and calls out to him: “I am not dressed, but also not naked, I have not ridden, gone, not driven, I am not on the way and not out of the way. ”“ Then it is as I said, ”replies the king,“ I will take you to my wife. ”Shortly afterwards, the marriage takes place, the king puts the crown on the farmer's daughter's head and thinks that from now on she will be his queen and should rule his country with him.
Four years have passed when two farmers get into an argument about a colt , ask the king for a decision and he makes the wrong decision. The farmer who has lost his animal then visits the queen and follows her advice. This shows the king that he has made the wrong decision. He wants to know who advised the farmer. Only after he has been flogged does he reveal that it was the queen. He will then be released and his colt will be returned.
The king visits his wife and complains that she made a fool of him with her advice in front of the world. All that remains for him is to cast her away, to go back to her peasant hut. When she parted, however, he allowed her to take what she loved most in the castle. The queen asks him to wait a moment, puts on her old dress again and has a farewell drink served. As soon as the king has drunk, he collapses. She has him wrapped in a blanket and taken out of the castle. When the king wakes up again after some time, he finds himself in the modest peasant hut. “You ordered me to take my loved one out of the castle”, the young woman told him, “now I have nothing better and better in the castle, I took you with me.” The king is touched and recognizes his unbreakable love wise wife and asks her forgiveness.
