Career
society
The 1.85 meter tall defensive player Polenta comes from the youth team of the Montevidean club Danubio . In 2008 he joined the Italian first division club CFC Genoa , where he played until 2011. His record there, however, only shows a use in Serie A in the 2010/11 season when he ran up on April 30, 2011 in the game against SSC Napoli . He then moved to Serie B on loan to AS Bari in August 2011 . Polenta had previously been associated with FC Barcelona B , for whose team the Uruguayan was to play in the Segunda División . Initially, a loan commitment including a purchase option in the amount of 5.5 million euros was planned. For the port city from Bari, he made his debut on September 17, 2011 in the game against Nocerina and completed a total of 53 games (one goal). Before the start of the 2013/14 season, there was a possible one-year loan of the player advised by Pablo Bentancur to Nacional Montevideo , which was initially not realized. After he briefly returned to Genoa, but did not play a game there, his path led back to AS Bari as a loan player. There he plays on the same team with his compatriots Walter López and Matías Alonso . After his return, he was first set up on September 14, 2013 in the game against FC Modena and played a total of 30 league games (three goals) for Bari until the end of the second half of 2013/14. In the subsequent play-offs he was used three times and scored one goal. For Apertura 2014 he moved back to Uruguay and joined Nacional Montevideo on loan. In the 2014/15 season he won the national championship with Nacional and was used 25 times (no goal) in the top Uruguayan league and once (no goal) in the 2015 Copa Libertadores . In the 2015/16 season he played 27 top division games (two goals), two games (no goal) in the Copa Sudamericana 2015 and nine games (no goal) in the Copa Libertadores 2016 . He then contributed to winning the national championship in the 2016 season with eleven league appearances without a personal goal.
National team
Polenta was part of the Uruguayan U-15 selection. From his debut, which he celebrated under coach Fabián Coito on May 2, 2007 in the game against the USA, he played a total of 12 matches with the U-15s and scored three goals , according to the AUF . He took part with the team at the U-15 South American Championship in Brazil in 2007 , where he finished second with Uruguay. On July 2, 2008, he made his debut in the country's U-17 under coach Roland Marcenaro . Opponents in this game were again the USA. The association plays 20 international matches for him with this team. He was part of the squad at the U-17 South American Championship in Chile in 2009 and the U-17 World Championship that year in Nigeria . On the occasion of the U-20 South American Championship 2011 in Peru , he was then used on January 16, 2011 in the match against Argentina for the first time in this selection supervised by Juan Verzeri , in which his record shows 16 completed internationals with three international goals. The U-20 World Cup 2011 in Colombia , he also experienced as a team member. In 2012, Polenta was a member of the Uruguayan Olympic team at the Summer Olympics in London . In this national team, he played his only game on July 11, 2012 against Chile.
After the injury-related failures of the regular central defenders Godín and Gímenez as well as Mathías Corujo , he was nominated for the senior national team for the World Cup qualifiers at the end of March 2016 against Brazil and Peru .
