The extremely powerful left-wing rigger also beat one of his opponents into a coma for several weeks.

Professional career

Although Whyte is extremely powerful, he only won his first two professional fights on points.

In 2015 Whyte completed a total of five fights, against the Brazilian Marcelo Luiz Nascimento (17-7), the undefeated Georgian Beka Lobjanidze (10-0), Irineu Beato Costa Junior (17-4), Brian Minto (49-9) and the undefeated Anthony Joshua (14-0), whom he defeated in the amateurs. He defeated Nascimento, Lobjanidze and Costa Junior each with a classic knockout , he won against Minto in the 3rd round by TKo, this fight was for the vacant WBC international silver title. However, Whyte was difficult to knock out against Joshua in The O2 Arena in round 7. However, Whyte put Joshua in trouble for the first time in his professional career, especially in the 2nd round. This fight was about the WBC International as well as the Commonwealth and the British Championship (BBBofC) , which was vacant.

After three more victories, he won against Dereck Chisora (26-6) in December 2016 in an action-packed fight just on points.

In 2017 he won against the American Malcolm Tann and the Finn Robert Helenius and became WBC Silver Heavyweight Champion. He defended this title on March 24, 2018 with a difficult knockout in the sixth round against the previously undefeated Lucas Browne (25-0).

On July 28, 2018, he defeated Joseph Parker unanimously on points (113-112, 115-110, 114-111) and inflicted only his second defeat in his professional career so far. In addition, it was the first time in his entire professional career that Parker fell to the ground with a regular hit and was counted in.

In December of the same year there was a rematch with Chisora at The O2 Arena in London . Compared to the first fight, Whyte presented himself in top form this time and beat Chisora in the 11th round classic knockout

In 2019 Whyte gave a positive doping test and was temporarily banned by the association.
