Dinko Jukić (born January 9, 1989 in Dubrovnik , SFR Yugoslavia ) is an Austrian swimming professional . The preferred courses for the 191 cm tall swimmer are the individual position courses or the 200 m butterfly . He swims for the Vienna club SC Austria Wien .

Athletic career

The siblings Dinko and Mirna Jukić (Vienna 2008)

Jukic started swimming in Croatia in 1993 before moving to Austria in 1999. He is trained by his father Željko . He completed his school days at the BRG Marchettigasse . Due to his extraordinary academic achievements, he was able to skip a class and graduate in 2007 .

In the beginning he received special attention due to the fact that he is the younger brother of the extremely successful Austrian swimmer Mirna Jukić (* 1986). He first showed his potential to the public in 2005 at the Youth Olympic Days when he won gold twice. In 2006 he continued successfully at the World Swimming Championships in Rio de Janeiro , when he swam the gold medal in over 400 m medley and over 200 m butterfly. At the European Swimming Championships in Budapest in 2006 , Jukić's best placement was a 15th place in the 200 m medley. In Melbourne he finished 20th at the 2007 World Swimming Championships over 200 m medley and 22nd over 200 m butterfly. At the European Short Course Championships in Debrecen in 2007 , he was ninth (200 m layers) and tenth (400 m layers).

Just two years after his 15th place in Budapest he was sensationally second in the 200 m and fourth in the 400 m medley at the European Championships in Eindhoven in 2008 . In addition, he swam the bronze medal with the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay (together with Markus Rogan , David Brandl and Dominik Koll ). In April 2008 Dinko Jukić was fourth over the 400 m and fifth over the 200 m medley at the 2008 World Short Course Championships in Manchester . When Ioannis Drymonakos later withdrew third place for doping, Jukić was subsequently awarded the bronze medal. In December 2008 he won gold over 400 m individual medley and silver over 200 m butterfly at the European short course championships in Rijeka . At the swimming world championships in 2009 he improved his Austrian record in the prerun over 200 m butterfly. In the final run, he could no longer achieve this time and took sixth place.

In October 2011, he was in a doping process of the National Anti-Doping Agency acquitted (NADA). He was accused of wrong conduct during a check-up, and the case was then classified as a "missed test".

At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, he finished fourth in the 200 m butterfly swimming competitions.

On August 29, 2012, Dinko Jukić was banned by the OSV for insulting OSV officials at the European Championships in Debrecen for 12 months from all national and international competitions, including 10 months. In the event of such a ban, Jukić had announced his retirement in advance.

In April 2013, Jukić was unavailable for a doping control. Initially classified as a "missed test", Jukić was later acquitted because his club, SC Austria Wien, had previously been excluded from the OSV because of unpaid contributions and he was therefore not an athlete in the sense of the anti-doping rule. In August 2014, Jukić again missed a doping control. This case was also not rated as a "missed test" because a special start right had been withdrawn and he was therefore not an OSV swimmer.

Political career

In 2010, Jukić was a candidate for the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) for the state and municipal council elections in Vienna . He started in the Meidling district , but did not achieve the planned basic mandate.
