The district of Caujul is located in the province of Oyón in the Lima region in western Peru . The district was founded on November 30, 1871. It has an area of 104 km². At the 2017 census there were 576 residents in the district. In 1993 the population was 732, in 2007 it was 917. The district administration is located in the 3175 m high village of Caujul with 246 inhabitants (as of 2017). Caujul is located at an altitude to the west above the river valley of the Río Huaura . Caujul is located about 27 km west-southwest of the provincial capital Oyón .
Geographical location
The district of Caujul is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera in the center of the province of Oyón. The district is located on the right bank of the westward flowing Río Huaura .
The district of Caujul borders in the west on the district Naván , in the northwest on the district Ámbar ( province Huaura ), in the north on the district Gorgor ( province Cajatambo ), in the east on the district Andajes and in the extreme south on the district Checras (province Huaura) ).
