The Andajes district is located in the province of Oyón in the Lima region in western Peru . The district was founded on January 2, 1857. It has an area of ​​153 km². At the 2017 census, 546 people lived in the district. In 1993 the population was 1045, in 2007 it was 1028. The district administration is located in the 3487  m high village of Andajes with 323 inhabitants (as of 2017). Andajes is located at an altitude to the west above the river valley of the Río Huaura . A road leads into the valley to Churín, 4 km further east . The provincial capital Oyón is located about 20 km northeast of Andajes. In addition to the main town Andajes, there is also the town of San Benito de Caraz.

Geographical location

The district of Andajes is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera, in the center of the province of Oyón. The district is located on the right bank of the westward flowing Río Huaura .

The Andajes district is bordered by the Caujul district to the west, the Gorgor district ( Cajatambo province ) to the north, the Oyón district to the east, the Pachangara district to the southeast and the Checras district ( Huaura province ) to the south .
