The Cerro Azul district is located in the Cañete province in the Lima region in central western Peru . The district was established on August 16, 1921. It has an area of ​​105.17 km². At the 2017 census, there were 8,328 residents in the district. In 1993 the population was 5124, in 2007 6893. The administrative seat is the coastal town of Cerro Azul .

Geographical location

The Cerro Azul district is located on the Pacific coast in the south of the Cañete province. It has a coastline of almost 17 km. In the lowlands in the south of the district, irrigated agriculture is practiced, in the north there is a barren, desert-like mountainous region.

The Cerro Azul district borders the Asia in the north, the Quilmaná and Imperial districts in the east and the San Luis district in the south .
