The Mala district is located in the Cañete Province in the Lima region in central western Peru . The district has an area of ​​129.31 km². In the 2017 census, 32,717 people lived in the district. In 1993 the population was 18,712, in 2007 27,881. The administrative seat is the city of Mala .

Geographical location

The Mala district is located in the north of the Cañete province. It has a 6.4 km long stretch of coast on the Pacific coast south of the mouth of the Río Mala . The Río Mala River runs along the northwestern boundary of the district. The district extends about 13 km inland. This is where the foothills of the Peruvian Western Cordillera rise . Irrigated agriculture is practiced in the lowlands. The Panamericana runs along the coast through the district.

The district of Mala borders in the northwest on the districts of San Antonio and Santa Cruz de Flores , in the north on the district Calango , in the east on the district Coayllo and in the west on the district Asia .
