The district of San Vicente de Cañete is located in the province of Cañete in the Lima region in central western Peru . The district has an area of ​​519 km². At the 2017 census, 54,775 people lived in the district. In 1993 the population was 32,548, in 2007 46,464. The administrative seat is the provincial capital San Vicente de Cañete .

Geographical location

The district of San Vicente de Cañete is located in the southwest of the province of Cañete. It extends over a 32 km long stretch of coast of the Pacific Ocean . The Río Cañete river crosses the north of the district and flows into the sea. Irrigated agriculture is practiced along the course of the river. North of the river, on the northern district border, lies the city of San Vicente de Cañete. In the south of the district there is desert vegetation, in the east the district extends up to 26 km inland. This is where the foothills of the Peruvian Western Cordillera rise . The Quebrada Topara forms the southeastern boundary of the district.

The district of San Vicente de Cañete borders in the northwest on the district of San Luis , in the north on the districts Imperial , Nuevo Imperial and Lunahuaná . In the southeast, the district of San Vicente de Cañete borders the districts of Pueblo Nuevo and Grocio Prado , both in the province of Chincha .
