The Pacarán District is located in the Cañete Province in the Lima Region in southwestern Peru . The district was founded on January 2, 1857. It has an area of 239 km². The 2017 census counted 1779 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 1497, in 2007 it was 1687. The district administration is located in the 700 m high village Pacarán with 794 inhabitants (as of 2017). Pacarán is located 43 km east-northeast of the provincial capital San Vicente de Cañete .
Geographical location
The Pacarán District is located in the southeast of the Cañete Province. The district lies on the western flank of the Peruvian Western Cordillera . The Río Cañete crosses the district in a south-westerly direction.
The district Pacarán bordered to the south and the southwest by the district Lunahuaná , the west by the district Nuevo Imperial , on the north by the districts Tauripampa and Allauca (both in the province of Yauyos ), in the northeast on the district Zúñiga and in the southeast of the district Chocos (Yauyos Province).
