Church in Lunahuaná

The Lunahuaná district is located in the Cañete province of the Lima region in central western Peru . The district was founded on August 4, 1821. It has an area of ​​500.33 km². At the 2017 census there were 4,393 residents in the district. In 1993 the population was 4233, in 2007 4567. The administrative seat is the small town Lunahuaná located on the Río Cañete at an altitude of 479  m .

Geographical location

The Lunahuaná district is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera in the southeast of the Cañete province. The river Río Cañete crosses the district over a length of about 24 km in a predominantly southwestern direction.

The Lunahuaná district is bordered to the west by the district Nuevo Imperial , the north by the district Pacarán , in the southeast of the district Chavín ( Chincha Province , Ica region ) and in the south by the de district San Vicente Cañete .
