The Illimo district (alternative spelling: Íllimo ) is located in the Lambayeque Province in the Lambayeque region in northwestern Peru . The district founded on November 22, 1905 has an area of 24.37 km². At the 2017 census, 8,856 people lived in the district. In 1993 the population was 8972, in 2007 it was 9107. The district administration is located in the 51 m high town of Illimo with 5037 inhabitants (as of 2017). The city of Illimo is located 33 km north of the regional capital Chiclayo on the road from Lambayeque to Olmos .
Geographical location
The Illimo district is located in the coastal lowlands. The foothills of the Peruvian Western Cordillera rise further east. The River La Leche flows along the northern and northwestern district boundaries. Irrigated agriculture is practiced in the district.
The Illimo district borders on the Pacora district in the north, the Pítipo district ( Ferreñafe province ) in the far east and the Túcume district in the south .
