Location of the districts

The Ferreñafe Province is one of three provinces in the Lambayeque region in northwestern Peru . The province has an area of ​​1578.6 km². At the 2017 census, 97,415 people lived in the province. In 1993 the population was 92,377, in 2007 96,142. The provincial administration is located in the city of Ferreñafe .

Geographical location

The province of Ferreñafe is centrally located in the Lambayeque region. It has a maximum length in NE-SW direction of 100 km. The northern part of the province is traversed by the Río La Leche . This is where the foothills of the Peruvian Western Cordillera rise . In the southwest of the province, in the coastal plain, lies the provincial capital Ferreñafe. The province reaches up to about 19 km from the Pacific coast.

The province of Ferreñafe borders the province of Lambayeque in the northwest , the provinces Jaén , Cutervo and Chota (all in the region of Cajamarca ) in the east and the province of Chiclayo in the south .

Administrative division

The province of Chiclayo is divided into six districts (Distritos) . The Ferreñafe district is the seat of the provincial administration.
