The district Túcume lies in the province of Lambayeque the Lambayeque region in northwest Peru . The district founded on November 17, 1894 has an area of 67 km². At the 2017 census, there were 21,847 residents in the district. In 1993 the population was 18,107, in 2007 it was 20,814. The district administration is located in the city of Túcume . The archaeological site " Pyramids of Túcume " is located near the city of Túcume.
Geographical location
The Túcume district is located in the southeast of the Lambayeque province, 30 km north of the regional capital Chiclayo . The district is located in the arid coastal plain of northwestern Peru, almost 30 km from the sea. The highway from Lambayeque to Chulucanas passes Túcume.
The Túcume district borders on the Mochumí district in the south, the Mórrope district in the west, the Illimo district in the north and the Pítipo district ( Ferreñafe province ) in the east .
