The district of San Antonio de Cusicancha is located in the province of Huaytará in the Huancavelica region in south- central Peru . The district was established on June 14, 1962. It has an area of 239 km². The 2017 census counted 1,438 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 1596, in 2007 it was 1657. The seat of the district administration is the 3228 m high village of San Antonio de Cusicancha with 151 inhabitants (as of 2017). San Antonio de Cusicancha is located 13 km north-northeast of the provincial capital Huaytará .
Geographical location
The district of San Antonio de Cusicancha is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera in the north of the province of Huaytará. The rivers Río Rumichaca and Río Supaymayo cross the district in a south-westerly direction and unite in the west of the district to form the Río Quito Arma.
The district of San Antonio de Cusicancha borders in the west on the district Quito-Arma , in the northwest and in the north on the districts Ticrapo and Castrovirreyna (both in the province Castrovirreyna ), in the east on the district Pilpichaca , in the southeast on the district Tambo as well as in South to the districts of Huaytará and Huayacundo Arma .
