The district of San Lorenzo is located in the province of Jauja in the Junín region in central western Peru . The district was established on October 21, 1942. It has an area of ​​24.3 km². At the 2017 census, there were 2,675 residents in the district. In 1993 the population was 1841, in 2007 2265. The administrative center is the small town of San Lorenzo, 3322  m high, with 2275 inhabitants (as of 2017). San Lorenzo is 14.5 km southeast of the provincial capital Jauja . The national road 3S from Jauja to Huancayo runs through the district.

Geographical location

The district of San Lorenzo is located in the south of the province of Jauja. It is located in the Andean highlands on the left eastern bank of the Río Mantaro, which flows southeast .

The district of San Lorenzo borders in the southwest with the district Leonor Ordóñez , in the northwest with the district El Mantaro , in the northeast with the district Masma Chicche , in the east with the district Apata and in the south with the district Matahuasi ( province Concepción ).
