Dobrau ( Polish Dobra , 1936–1945 German Burgwasser ) is a village in Upper Silesia . Dobrau is located in the municipality of Klein Strehlitz in the Krapkowicki powiat (Krappitz district) in the Polish Opole Voivodeship .

Dobrau is three kilometers southeast of the township seat Klein Strehlitz, six kilometers west of the district town Krapkowice (Krappitz) and 25 kilometers south of the voivodeship capital Opole .

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1258. In 1867 the Catholic Church was built.
In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 419 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 76 for Poland. In the Dobrau estate, 80 people voted for Germany and six for Poland. Dobrau remained with the German Empire . In 1933 there were 796 inhabitants. On July 21, 1936, the place was renamed Burgwasser . In 1939 the place had 798 inhabitants. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Neustadt OS
In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration and was renamed Dobra and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship . In 1999 the place came to Powiat Krapkowicki . On May 17, 2006, German was introduced as the second official language in the municipality of Klein Strehlitz, to which Dobrau belongs. On November 24, 2008, the place was also given the official German place name Dobrau .
