Dominik Koeninger
Dominik Köninger (born in Heidelberg ) is a German opera singer with a baritone voice . He has been a member of the Komische Oper Berlin ensemble since 2012 .
life and work
Köninger studied at the opera school in Karlsruhe with Roland Hermann and attended master classes with Brigitte Fassbaender , Ann Murray , Rudolf Piernay and Kurt Moll . His first engagements took him to the Schwetzingen Festival , the Badisches Staatstheater in Karlsruhe and the Ludwigsburg Palace Festival . In the 2006/07 season he was a member of the ensemble at the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck. After that he was a member of the International Opera Studio at the Hamburg State Opera for two years . He subsequently made guest appearances at the Theater an der Wien and at the Vienna Volksoper , at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and at the state operas of Hamburg, Munich and Stuttgart. In the summer of 2009 he played Jesus in the staged version of the St. John Passion at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and in Sweden , staged by the American director Robert Wilson . His operatic repertoire ranges from the baroque to the 20th century, with a clear focus on Mozart and Offenbach.
Since 2012, Köninger has been a member of the ensemble of the Komische Oper Berlin under the direction of director Barrie Kosky . His first role there was the title role in Monteverdis in L'Orfeo . Guest appearances with productions of the Komische Oper took him as Papageno to the Edinburgh International Festival , to the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona and to the Opéra-Comique in Paris and as Agamemnon to the Festspielhaus St. Pölten . In 2013 he performed as Guglielmo in Tokyo.
Köninger also appears regularly in concert halls. He gave recitals in London's Wigmore Hall and at the Beethovenfest Bonn , sang in Bach cantatas and Schubert masses, in Schumann's Das Paradies und die Peri , in Handel's Messiah and in Mozart's Coronation Mass and completed a tour with the Christmas Oratorio , played by B ' Rock under the direction of René Jacobs .
In April 2018 he will embody Jesus in a Pierre Audi production of the St. John Passion in Rouen.
