Diego and Dora's Monkey Boots are the only friends she has there. When she was six years old, Diego had to leave her and move to Los Angeles .
Ten years later, Dora's parents send her to Los Angeles too, as they are on the verge of finding the Inca City and they think Dora should have contact with her peers as well. She attends Silver Lake High School in Los Angeles with Diego , but has problems adjusting socially. During a trip to a museum, she, her cousin and two classmates are kidnapped by treasure robbers and brought to Peru. The treasure robbers want to get their parents and thus the gold Parapatas through them. Dora and her classmates manage to escape with the help of Alejandro Gutierrez, who pretends to be the assistant of a professor friend.
The group goes in search of Dora's parents and is pursued by the treasure robbers. Finally they find the camp of their parents, who in turn were kidnapped by the city guards. Eventually they find the city, but also the treasure robbers catch up with them. Alejandro now turns out to be the leader of the treasure robbers. Dora and her classmates escape with the help of their monkey. The youngsters can open the gate to the gold city and, past various traps, get inside with a huge gold statue. There she reaches Alejandro again. Now the guards of the city appear, who let Dora, her classmates and her parents go, because Dora can convince them of her good intentions. Alejandro remains in her captivity. Dora returns to Los Angeles, with her classmates now as friends.
background
The film was developed as a live action film from the animated series Dora . The film takes up this model in many ways. The idea of adapting a teenage Dora in a real-life film was viewed rather derisively on the Internet. The film also uses the typical elements of archeology films such as the Indiana Jones series.
