Dragon Warrior - The Secret of the Vikings (OT: Gåten Ragnarok ) is a Norwegian adventure film with fantasy elements from 2013.

action

The archaeologist Sigurd Svendsen is quite sure that he has discovered the secret of the Oseberg ship . In his opinion, the Vikings had traveled much further than previously thought. He suspects a large Viking treasure that is somehow connected to Ragnarök . His colleague Allan also made a discovery: a rune stone intended to serve as a map and a mysterious snake's head.

Together with his two children Ragnhild and Brage, Allan, the archaeologist Elisabeth and the seedy tourist guide Leif, they set off. At an old lake you will first discover an old research station and then an underground cave system that actually contains remains from the Viking Age.

But Leif leaves the group in the cave and flees with the treasure. But he doesn't get far: a creature pulls him into the depths of the lake. Meanwhile, the remaining researchers manage to escape the cave system. You spend the night in the old container that the research team used as a shelter. But Allan and Sigurd go back into the cave because they suspect something else there. In the meantime, a small snake hatches from an egg that Brage took with him. The two children manage to lock the creature up. But a much larger snake is approaching.

These are now chasing the research team and the children. They can escape to the old research station, where Allan, who has in the meantime come into possession of the baby animal, betrays the group and is eaten by the giant snake.

Sigurd is now doing the only right thing: he gives the snake mother back her baby and the team succeeds in escaping into civilization.

reception

The film site Captain Fantastic described the film as a "family-friendly adventure film (...) that doesn't have to hide from various Hollywood titles of a similar design".

Peter Osteried from the film site Kino-Zeit.de also described the film as “a family-friendly adventure that, as a mixture of Indiana Jones and anaconda , offers light but pleasant food. The Norwegian production follows the narrative patterns of American formats, but also allows itself a few peculiarities. The role shift is interesting because the male main character is well-mannered, nice and weak, while his companion has to take on the active hero role. "
