Griesen is a district of the city of Oranienbaum-Wörlitz in the district of Wittenberg in Saxony-Anhalt .

The towns of Drehberg and Münsterberg belong to Griesen .

geography

Griesen is located south of the banks of the Elbe in the Middle Elbe Biosphere Reserve and borders directly on the south of the city of Wörlitz . In the immediate vicinity is the Wörlitzer Park in the middle of the Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Realm , which was founded in the second half of the 18th century under the reign of Prince Leopold III. Friedrich Franz von Anhalt-Dessau was created. The area around Griesen is flat and is crossed by numerous ditches and streams.

Griesen

  • 1200 - First documented mention of Griesen as Griesene (from Slavic : 'marshy place'). Reports of enormous floods in the Elbe, which also struck Griesen, also come from this time.
  • 1490 - The place is pledged by Prince Ernst and his wife Margarethe von Münsterberg .
  • 1580 - A Erbrichterei is built as a two-storey timber-framed building.
  • 1788 - A school is built by Friedrich Wilhelm von Erdmannsdorff in a classical style . Until 1954 it was a general school for Griesen, Münsterberg and Drehberg.
  • 1910 - A forge is built.
  • In 1945 a locksmith's shop was added.
  • In 1990, several medium-sized companies develop from this.
  • 2002 - The flood of the Elbe approaches the community from Horstdorf and stands in front of the Münsterberg district.
  • In 2007, the municipality of Griesen with the districts of Drehberg and Münsterberg was incorporated into the Wittenberg district due to a district reform from the former Anhalt-Zerbst district.
  • On January 1, 2011, Griesen was incorporated into the new town of Oranienbaum-Wörlitz.

Drehberg is located directly on the L133 state road between Griesen and Vockerode . It was originally used as an escape route from floods.

Munsterberg

Münsterberg is located between Griesen and Vockerode approx. 1 km from the L133 state road.

  • 1740 - Münsterberg is founded by Prince Leopold II. Maximilian (1700–1751) as the Vorwerk of the Wörlitz domain and takes the name of the ancestor. A separate cemetery will also be set up southwest of the Vorwerk , which will later be given up again.
  • 1920 - Münsterberg is incorporated. From this point on, all paths in the municipality of Griesen can also be used.

Transport links

Griesen is crossed by the L 133 from Oranienbaum via Vockerode to Dessau-Roßlau (formerly part of the federal highway 107) and is located on the district road K 2 376 (formerly B 107) to Wörlitz. The motorway connection of the ( A 9 ) Vockerode is 7 km away.

The next train stations are in Dessau-Roßlau or in Coswig (Anhalt) . The Wörlitz train station of the Dessau-Wörlitzer Railway is only 1 km away and is only served in the summer season.
