Duri Camichel (* 6. May 1982 in Samedan ; † 28. April 2015 in Parismina, Limón , Costa Rica ) was a Swiss ice hockey player , who during his career for the EV train and the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers in the National League A active was. His father Werner was a successful bobsleigh driver , while his brother Corsin is also a former ice hockey player.

Career

Duri Camichel began his career just like his brother Corsin at EHC St. Moritz . In 1998 Duri switched to the next generation of EV Zug , where he was initially used by the U20 juniors in the Elite A. During the 1999/2000 season Camichel made his debut for the men's team in the National League A. As a result, he completed over 400 NLA games for EV Zug. From 2007 he was also the team captain of his team.

In the middle of the 2008/09 season, his brother Corsin moved from HC Ambrì-Piotta to EV Zug, so that the brothers played for the same club again after ten years.

At the end of December 2011, Camichel signed a three-year contract with league competitor Rapperswil-Jona Lakers , who tied him to the Lakers from the 2012/13 season. Camichel ended his career in January 2014.

On April 28, 2015, Duri Camichel had a fatal car accident in Costa Rica . With him in the car was Mark Streit's personal coach , Harry Andereggen, who also lost his life.

International

Duri Camichel was used at three world championships for Switzerland . In 2000 he took part in the U18 World Cup and in 2001 in the U20 World Cup. In 2007 he completed his only men's world championship, where he contributed one assist in seven games and finished eighth with the national team.
