Eetu "Edu" Muinonen (born April 5, 1986 in Mikkeli ) is a Finnish football player on the position of midfielder . He currently plays for Mikkelin Palloilijat in Ykkönen , the second highest division in Finnish football.

Career

Start of career at Mikkelin Palloilijat

Muinonen began his active football career at his hometown club Mikkelin Palloilijat , where he also made his debut in men's football in 2002 when he made his debut in the Finnish third division at the age of 16 . In his first year with the men's team, the trained midfielder was used in nine league games, in which he also scored a goal. Due to his strong appearance at the Finnish third division team, some professional clubs quickly became aware of the young midfield talent , including the long-time first division team Myllykosken Pallo -47 , who brought the young talent to the professional squad from 2003 .

Soon after Muinonen was signed, he made his professional debut and made a total of eight league appearances by the end of the season and made it to an acceptable fourth place in the table with the team. Although his missions, the young midfielder was awarded to Rakuunat for the second division season in 2004 , where he should be used in a total of five championship games before he returned to his actual home club. After returning from Lappeenranta , Muinonen was also used at his home club in eleven league games, but remained goalless. In addition, he also came to missions in the Finnish Football Cup of 2004 , he took with his teammates for the third time in club history. In the 2-1 final win over FC Hämeenlinna , Muinonen also made a brief assignment, which he completed as a substitute.

After cup success: Master with MyPa

After he brought the trophy to Anjalankoski for the third time in the club's history with MyPa -47 after 1992 and 1995 , he completed a strong season in 2005 , in which he was used in 24 of a total of 26 league games and scored three goals . At the end of the season he and the team won first place in the final standings with a four point lead over their closest rival, HJK Helsinki , and for the first time in the club's history secured the championship title in the highest Finnish football league. Muinonen, who was one of the top performers this season, was unable to establish himself properly in the following two seasons. In the game year 2006 , in which he acted quite aggressively, he only made eleven championship appearances and three hits.

In 2007 , the now 21-year-old was unable to really establish himself as a regular in the midfield of his club's professional team. Muinonen, who took part in qualifying for the 2006/07 Champions League with the team after the championship title in 2005 , was used in 19 league games and had a number of two goals this season. It was not until the 2008 season that the once highly praised young talent found its old form and played in 24 of the total of 26 championship games, in which he again scored three goals. In addition to his appearances in various Finnish football competitions, he was also used with MyPa -47 in some UEFA Cup games and was also a participant in a UEFA Intertoto Cup with the team .

Change to Belgium

After the season ended in 2008, the 22-year-old Finn moved to Belgium at the beginning of February 2009 , where he was accepted by SV Zulte Waregem in their professional squad. Muinonen, who had been in contact with the Belgian club for some time, signed a contract with a term of three and a half years. At the Belgian club, to which he and his teammate Tarmo Neemelo moved , the 22-year-old had no great chance of making it into the starting line-up right from the start. Neemelo, a former Estonian national player and Muinonen's team-mate at MyPa -47, was only used sporadically as a substitute for the club from West Flanders . But the bad luck with injuries also haunted Muinonen in Belgium, which also affected his playing experience. In the 2008/09 season , the first season with the new club, he brought it to only one championship use. Due to the hopelessness of joining the team of successful coach Francky Dury , the trained midfielder decided in the 2009/10 season , in which no league game was played at all, to dissolve his current contract with Zulte Wagerem and to change clubs.

Return to Mikkelin Palloilijat

After an unsuccessful trial training at the JJK in February 2010, the rather small but agile midfielder, who can also be used on the wings, soon signed a contract with his former training club Mikkelin Palloilijat . Before that, Muinonen's change to the JJK, from whose person in charge he was presented with a three-year contract, had already been almost entirely completed. Only disagreements about the transfer fee and the player's salary delayed the negotiations further and further. With his former home club he signed a contract dated until June 2010 with a fixed commitment of ten games. By the end of the season, Muinonen was used for the Finnish second division team in a total of twelve championship games in which he scored one goal.

International

Muinonen gained his first international experience with the Finnish U-15 national team, for which he played in four international matches, but remained goalless. Further missions for the U-17 national team of Finland , for which he was used from around 2003, followed. He also took part with the team in the 2003 home World Cup , where he was eliminated with the team against Colombia and Mexico in the group stage. Muinonen was used in all three group players of the Finnish U-17 team and made a total of 23 U-17 international appearances by the end of his U-17 career. With the U-19 national team of his home country, the midfielder took part in a European Championship qualification and made a total of five appearances in the U-19 national team. The 1.70 m tall midfielder was also used in three European Championship qualifiers with the Finnish U-21 national team , for whom he played a total of eight international matches and even scored one goal. With the B-Elf of his home country he has been in five international matches to date (as of November 11, 2010). To this day, however, it has not been enough for a call-up to the Finnish national team .
