The Egelbach is a creek almost two kilometers long in the Bibert-Schwabach-Rezat-Platten , as well as a west-southwest and right tributary of the Bibert in the central Franconian district of Fürth .

geography

course

The Egelbach rises in the Lindach corridor at an altitude of 366  m above sea level. NHN in a forest on the municipality border between Dietenhofen in the west and Heilsbronn in the east.

The stream initially flows northwards almost two hundred meters on the border between the district Kehlmünz belonging to Dietenhofen on its left and the district Bürglein belonging to Heilsbronn through woodland. It then bends west-northwest and shortly afterwards leaves the forest and enters the open hallway. It now runs through fields and meadows in the Kehlmünz district and is then fed on its right by the outflow from the Lindach fountain and a little later on the other side by an unnamed meadow brook about one kilometer long.

The Egelbach now passes the municipal boundary to Großhabersdorf and then crosses under the St 2410 bridge built in 1958 .

It now flows in a north-northeast direction through farmland, then crosses the Schwaig road , immediately afterwards it forms a small pond and finally flows out at an altitude of 322  m above sea level. NHN west of the Großhabersdorfer district Schwaighausen from the right into the Bibert .

The 1.7 kilometer long course of the Egelbach ends about 44 meters below its source, so it has an average bed gradient of about 26 ‰.

Catchment area

The catchment area of the Egelbach lies in the Bibert-Schwabach-Rezat-Platten and is drained through it via the Bibert, Rednitz , Regnitz , Main and Rhine to the North Sea.

It borders

The highest elevation with 385.8  m is an unnamed hill in the southwest of the catchment area.

nature and environment

It served to drain the meadows on the Bibert . It rises in the Lindach spring, ( 323  m ) a large spring funnel. The Egelbach was used as a spawning area for many fish, especially pike . In the deep swamp you can mainly find common leeches and horse leeches, which gave the stream its name. Today the ditch is largely weed.
