Einsiedlerhof is the westernmost district of Kaiserslautern . It has about 1,300 inhabitants.
geography
Einsiedlerhof is located on the eastern edge of the Landstuhler Bruch . It is bordered in the north by the Mannheim-Saarbrücken motorway and in the south, where the terrain rises relatively steeply, by the Landstuhl state forest as an extension of the Palatinate Forest . history
At the beginning of the 12th century, the Knights of Hohenecken founded the hospital of the Brothers von Einsiedeln domo ad Heremitam . From 1283 until the end of the 17th century it was a commandery in the Ballei Lorraine of the Teutonic Order . Some remains are still preserved. After Napoleon's dissolution of the Teutonic Order , the properties came to the community of Weilerbach . Einsiedlerhof has belonged to Kaiserslautern since 1932.
Since the development of rail transport, Einsiedlerhof has been and is strongly influenced by the railway, which takes up a large area south of the development. When the largest American garrison in Europe was built in and around Kaiserslautern after the Second World War , it had a lasting impact on Einsiedlerhof's face and the suburb became a focus of entertainment establishments. In line with the exchange rate adjustments of the dollar to the D-Mark and the euro, this development has been reversed in the last few decades.
