history

The place is mentioned for the first time in 1143 and 1213 as Stocwiler , although it was probably built in the 7th century. From 1190 to 1732 the place then called Stockweiler belonged to the rule of Hohenecken Castle , then to the Electoral Palatinate until the end of the 18th century . From 1798 to 1814, when the Palatinate was part of the French Republic (until 1804) and then part of the Napoleonic Empire , Stockborn was incorporated into the canton of Kaiserslautern and was subordinate to the Mairie Weilerbach . In 1815 the place had 63 inhabitants. In the same year, Austria was struck. Just one year later, the place changed to the Kingdom of Bavaria . From 1818 to 1862 he was a member of the Land Commissioner in Kaiserslautern ; from this the district office of Kaiserslautern emerged.

In 1928 Stockborn had 96 residents who lived in 20 residential buildings. In 1937 the previously independent town was incorporated into Erfenbach. In 1969, as part of the first Rhineland-Palatinate administrative reform , the latter became a district of the independent city of Kaiserslautern, with which Stockborn left the district of Kaiserslautern , to which it had belonged since 1939.

religion

The place is mainly inhabited by people of Mennonite faith. The 1928 population statistics show 47 Protestants, 12 Catholics and 37 “others”. The Catholics belonged to the parish of Otterbach at the time, while the Protestants belonged to that of Erfenbach.

Infrastructure

The only cultural monument on site is the former schoolhouse, which was built in 1862 and 1863. Stockborn is connected via Kreisstraße 8 , which leads south to Erfenbach; after crossing the district border it is called Kreisstraße 24 and leads to Katzweiler.
