Elke Schall-Süß , formerly Wosik (born July 19, 1973 in Speyer ) is a German table tennis player and trainer. She won the European Championship twice and with the team and came to 187 appointments to the national team.
Career
Elke Schall-Süß grew up in Heiligenstein , a district of the Palatinate Römerberg . At first she played handball in a boys' team, later she switched to the table tennis department of the TTV Römerberg. In the 6th school year she switched to the sports boarding school Heinrich-Heine-Gymnasium in Kaiserslautern , where she was supported by the coaches Herbert Schwarz and Karl-Gerhard Emmerich. In the 11th year of school she dropped out of school and became a professional table tennis player.
Since the 2009/2010 season, the 187-time national player has been playing in the table tennis Bundesliga at DJK TuS Holsterhausen (now TUSEM Essen ) . In 2014 she ended her career as a competitive athlete for the time being. In 2018 she became active again at the Swiss first division club TTC Neuhausen .
On July 1, 2013, she was hired by the Hessian table tennis association HTTV as an association trainer, where she particularly looked after the next generation of women. In 2015 she switched to the German Table Tennis Center in Düsseldorf as a trainer .
Private
Elke Schall-Süß has three siblings. Her older brother Martin Schall played with SV 03 Tübingen in the second basketball league, although he has now ended his active basketball career and is now teaching as a high school teacher in Tübingen. In 1991 Elke Schall-Süß met the table tennis player Torben Wosik , with whom she was married from December 2001 to 2008. She has been the wife of table tennis player Christian Süß since June 2012 and calls herself Elke Schall-Süß . She has a daughter with him.
