Elysium (Gradfeld)

The Elysium - degree field one of the 30 degree field of Mars . They were established by the United States Geological Survey ( USGS ). The number is MC-15, the degree field covers the area from 180 ° to 225 ° west longitude and from 0 ° to 30 ° south latitude . Elysium contains several volcanoes , including Elysium Mons and Albor Tholus and a river valley, Athabasca Valles , which could be the youngest on Mars. In the south, near Lethe Valles and Athabasca Valles, a lake may once have existed.

The name comes from an albedo feature on Mars, the area was named after a term from Greek mythology , the Elysium.
