estate

After his death, the Bamberg Royal Library (today's Bamberg State Library ) took over his extensive library and the associated collections, set them up separately and published a printed catalog. During his lifetime, Marschalk von Ostheim had repeatedly made extensive donations to the Bamberg library, which were incorporated into the general inventory. Marschalk's library mainly covers the history of the 19th century. In addition to the French Revolution, the works on the history of the revolution include literature on the German Revolution of 1848/1849 . In addition, his library contains an extensive collection of anthologies with personal and occasional publications as well as genealogical and heraldic literature, with a focus on the Franconian-Thuringian area, as well as travelogues and topographical works. Some of the components go back to earlier centuries. German and French are linguistically dominant . The graphic collections of the library contain caricatures and single-sheet prints of events of the time.

In the Bamberg State Archives there is not only his personal estate, but also that of the entire Marschalk von Ostheim family .

Foundation, endowment

It was not until four years after Marschalk's death, i.e. in 1907, that the Marschalk-von-Ostheim'sche Foundation was set up from his assets to promote and increase Bamberg's art and cultural heritage , from which grants to young scientists and artists (up to Age of 30 years). The foundation's volume, however, suffered considerable losses due to inflation and two world wars.

Marschalk's house at Sophienstrasse 1 (today Willy-Lessing-Strasse) was acquired in 1903 by the Bamberg bank A. E. Wassermann .
