Emmy Lischke

Emmy Lischke (born November 13, 1860 in Elberfeld (now part of Wuppertal ), † May 14, 1919 in Munich ) was a German painter from the Düsseldorf School of Painting . She was the daughter of the Lord Mayor of Elberfeld Karl Emil Lischke .

Life

Since women were not admitted to study at the Royal Prussian Art Academy in Düsseldorf until 1921 , Emmy Lischke studied privately with professors at the academy.

After the death of her father in 1886, she moved with her mother to Munich, where she studied with Ludwig Willroider, Professor of the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich, and with Theodor Her .

Emmy Lischke was one of the so-called painting women at the time and mainly painted landscapes and still lifes. She was a member of the Munich Artists' Cooperative and the General German Art Cooperative .
