The 2011/12 season was the hosting of the British National Ice Hockey League . After the Elite Ice Hockey League and the English Premier Ice Hockey League, this represented the 3rd division of British ice hockey in addition to the Scottish National League . In addition to the English teams, Scottish and Welsh teams took part.
Mode and participants
The teams played in regional zones "North" and "South", which each consisted of a first and lower class second division.

The Solway Sharks rose to Division 1 and replaced the Solihull Barons there . The second-placed team Sutton Sting defeated the Nottingham Lions in the relegation as the penultimate of Division I and thus achieved promotion.
