Eric Fromm (born June 27, 1958 in Queens , New York City , New York ) is a retired American tennis player .

Life

Fromm graduated from Columbia University and was selected for the All-American selection . In the course of his professional career on the ATP Tour, he was successful in both singles and doubles, but without ever being able to win a title. His greatest successes include finals at the double tournaments in Tampa and North Conway in 1983, as well as in Munich 1981 and 1984. His best individual result was reaching the semi-finals in Hamburg in 1983; there he failed after victories over Michael Westphal and Brian Gottfried, among others, in two sets at the eventual champion Yannick Noah . He reached his highest ranking in the tennis world rankings in 1983 with position 46 in singles and 1984 with position 45 in doubles.

His best individual result at a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the round of 16 of the French Open 1983, where he had no chance against Jimmy Connors with 2: 6, 1: 6 and 1: 6. In the doubles competition he reached the semi-finals of the French Open in 1984 on the side of Shlomo Glickstein , the two were defeated in five sets by the local heroes and later champions Henri Leconte and Yannick Noah. In mixed he was in the quarterfinals of the US Open in 1983 with JoAnne Russell .
