Erik LaRay Harvey
Erik LaRay Harvey (born 1972 in Bainbridge , Georgia ) is an American actor . He gained fame primarily through the television series Boardwalk Empire and through his role as Willis Stryker alias Diamondback in the Netflix series Marvel's Luke Cage .
life and career
Erik LaRay Harvey was born in the US state of Georgia and grew up in Washington, DC . He also spent part of his childhood in various countries in Africa, including Senegal, Tanzania and Kenya. His first dream was to become a dentist, which he maintained through college. He discovered his passion for acting during a performance of the musical The Wiz .
He attended New York University and studied at its renowned drama school, the Tisch School of the Arts . He took his first role in front of the camera in 1992 in the long-running Another World series . Other appearances in series such as Law & Order , Third Watch - Einsatz am Limit and New York Cops - NYPD Blue and the films Twister , Rounders , The Caveman's Valentine , K-PAX - Everything is possible , Marci X and Everyday People quickly followed . After starring in the series Criminal Intent and Brotherhood in 2005 and 2006 , he didn't take on his next television role until five years later. In Boardwalk Empire , he was at the beginning of the second season as Dunn Purnsley , the right hand of of Michael K. Williams embodied Chalky White to see. This was followed by guest roles in Believe , Chicago PD, and the miniseries Godless .
In 2016, Harvey took on the role of Willis Stryker in the first season of Marvel's Luke Cage . He then appeared in Sneaky Pete , Bull , The Blacklist and the biopic Can You Ever Forgive Me? on. In 2018 he was seen as Dante in the series One Dollar . A year later followed the role of Del Chance in the first season of the series Godfather of Harlem .
In addition to English, Harvey is also fluent in French and lives in New York City .
