Erika Rauschning

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Erika Rauschning (born August 9, 1923 in Stralsund ; † December 11, 2015 in Osnabrück ) was a German painter, poet, fashion designer and author.

Life

Erika Rauschning studied painting with Oskar Kokoschka at the Dresden Art Academy and lithography with Werner Otte in Salzburg , the art of etching with Rudolf Hradil and painting by the old masters with Arik Brauer in Vienna .

The artist worked with oil and acrylic and preferably with watercolors.

In April / May 2008 Erika Rauschning exhibited her late complete work of art “Stress Machine ” in the Bildarium studio and gallery . The “stress machine” consists of individual works of art that critically illuminate today's working world. In doing so, Erika Rauschning merged her poetry (read and posted) with the images to create an audio-visual total work of art. Despite the relationship with Kokoschka, it cannot be clearly assigned to expressionism or any other art style. A broad repertoire can be found, from total abstraction , sometimes with cubist elements, to expressionist still lifes . Her works in oil and acrylic usually stand out for their strong, dynamic contrasts. Her style is unmistakable. The artist also integrated unusual materials into her pictures, such as B. sand. Her watercolors show the interplay of white surfaces and open space with rooms filled with color. In addition to canvas, she painted on photo paper and wallpaper, among other things.

Erika Rauschning died on December 11, 2015 at the age of 92 in Osnabrück, where she had lived since 1953.
