Ernst Thälmann was chairman of the KPD during the Weimar Republic and was murdered by the National Socialists. He was honored many times in the GDR. After the fall of the Wall in 1990, it was renamed or renamed in various cases. In Germany, however, 613 streets and squares are still reminiscent of Thälmann. Keeping the street names was criticized. Klaus Schroeder points out, for example, that Thälmann wanted to destroy the Weimar Republic and set up a communist dictatorship based on the Soviet model in its place. Anyone who honors Thälmann through the streets either wants to abolish free democracy in Germany or is indifferent to it.
