history

Eschenbach was created as a forest hoof village in the course of the eastern settlement of the Franks from 1200 . The characteristic division of the parcels can still be observed today . 1428 appears in a document a "Thomas Tosse zu Eschenbach". The ash trees on the Dorfbach, a tributary of the Würschnitzbach which flows into the White Elster, gave this place its name. The village is parish after Schöneck.

Eschenbach originally belonged to the Plauen care and from 1506 to the Plauen office . This connection was not broken when the Schöneck dominion changed hands in Voigtsberg. Although the lords in Oelsnitz (Vogtland) owned fiefs in Eschenbach, the greater part belonged to the Schilbach manor and remained in the possession of the Plauen rulership. It thus formed one of the last eastern outposts of the Lords of Plauen (see Princely House of Reuss ). In 1764 Eschenbach and the surrounding villages of the Schöneck rule moved to the Oelsnitz district ( Voigtsberg district ). The farm estates were subject to interest to the council of the city of Oelsnitz (Vogtl.), The manor Schilbach and the church of St. Georg zu Schöneck. Until 1856, Eschenbach belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Voigtsberg. After 1856 the place belonged to the court office of Schöneck and from 1875 to the Oelsnitz administration .

On July 1, 1950, Eschenbach was incorporated into Schöneck. Through the second district reform in the GDR , Eschenbach came to be part of the town of Schöneck / Vogtl. in 1952 to the district of Klingenthal in the Chemnitz district (renamed the district of Karl-Marx-Stadt in 1953 ), which was continued in 1990 as the Saxon district of Klingenthal and was merged into the Vogtland district in 1996.
