Etting is a district of Ingolstadt in Upper Bavaria and is located in the north of the urban area at an altitude of about 350  m above sea level. NN . With 4672 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2015) and an area of ​​8.61 km² Etting has a population density of 543 inhabitants per km².

history

The exact founding period of the village Etting is not known. Finds from the time of the Merovingians and Carolingians suggest that the place originated in the 7th century: Several grave fields and traces of settlement south of today's Etting suggest a Merovingian foundation in the middle of the 7th century, with the graves belonging to the settlement also being burials of socially high-ranking people exhibit.

On the occasion of the municipal reform , the previously independent municipality of Etting (area 870.70 hectares) was incorporated into the independent city of Ingolstadt on July 1, 1972 with the exception of the hamlet of Blumhof . Blumhof, next to the parish village of Etting, the only other district of the community that was last listed in the official place directory for the 1961 census with 7 inhabitants in 3 residential buildings, came to the western neighboring community of Gaimersheim . The area of ​​this area incorporated into Gaimersheim was 54.3 hectares (difference between the former municipality area 870.7 hectares and the current district area 861.4 hectares).

Saint Michael Church

The construction time of the Church of St. Michael - the oldest building in Etting - is estimated to be between the 11th and 12th centuries.

The Catholic rectory consists of a two-storey gable roof structure. It was built in 1699 and extended at the end of the 18th century. The parish cemetery was built around 1700 and is equipped with a renewed limestone roof.

The relics of the three miserable saints Archus, Herenaeus and Quartanus are kept in the parish church .
