The Evangelical Church Riegelsberg is the parish church of the Evangelical congregation Güchenbach in Saarland Riegelsberg in the church district Saar-West of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland . In the list of monuments of the Saarland, the church is a single monument listed.

history

The church was in the years 1886 to 1889 to plans by the architect cathedral architect Reinhold Wirtz ( Trier built) and for ideas of Regierungsbaurat Eduard Held Berg (Trier). From 1955 to 1963 the church underwent restoration and reconstruction work. The gallery in the north transept arm was removed. Architect Franz Lang ( Webenheim ) directed the measures. In 1993 another restoration took place.

Architecture and equipment

The church building was built in the neo-Gothic style. The structure is the church tower with a pointed helmet , to which the nave , then a transept and finally the three-sided choir adjoins. The floor plan corresponds to the shape of a Latin cross .

The church's furnishings include five windows by the architect and glass painter György Lehoczky ( Saarbrücken ), which were created in 1962/63. They deal with the birth of Jesus , the crucifixion , the resurrection or ascension , the Sermon on the Mount and the wedding at Cana .

The altar , the ambo and the baptismal font come from the architect Franz Lang (Webenheim), who designed them in 1962. Also created in 1962 were paraments by textile artist Dorothea Zech ( Heusweiler ) with the themes of the altar ( Christ monogram , Holy Spirit , four rivers, cross and crown of thorns ) and pulpit (cross and crown, procession of the saints, four evangelists , young men in the furnace).
