The Interstate Highway 380 reaches its northwestern end point around four kilometers east of Evansdale, where it joins the US Highway 20 , which has also been developed into a freeway and runs in an east-west direction through the urban area of Evansdale. The northeastern city limit of Evansdale is formed by a Canadian National Railway (CN) line.

Evansdale came into being in 1947 when the residents of the two suburban settlements Home Acres and River Forest Area decided by referendum to found an independent community.
