The Evert Prahm is a German coaster . The ship collided with the transporter bridge in Rendsburg in January 2016 , which was irreparably damaged.

The ship belongs to a company belonging to the Hammann & Prahm shipping company in Wischhafen . Bereedert it is by the resident also in Wischhafen Karl Meyer - shipping company . The freighting is the responsibility of Wilhelm E. F. Schmid in Husum .

history

The ship was built under construction number 90 at the Kötter shipyard in Haren (Ems) . The keel of the ship was laid on May 5, 1994, and the ship was launched on September 25, 1996.

On January 8, 2016, the ship collided against 6:40 with the transporter bridge in Rendsburg . The ferry driver and a passenger on the ferry were injured. The ship was badly damaged, especially at the bridge house. As a result of the collision, the Kiel Canal and the railway bridge over which the Neumünster – Flensburg and Husum – Kiel lines run were closed. The canal and bridge were opened to traffic again around ten hours after the collision.

The Evert Prahm was on the way from Liepāja in Latvia to Husum with a load of maize . There were seven crew members and the canal pilot on board .

The collision was classified as a "serious marine casualty " by the Federal Bureau of Maritime Casualty Investigation .

Technical data and equipment

The vessel is powered by a SKL - diesel engine (type: AL-2 6 VD 29/24) 1320  kW power driven, of a via a reduction gear pitch propeller acts. The ship thus reaches a speed of 11  knots . A diesel generator from MWM (type: TD 226-6) and an emergency generator from Deutz (type: F5L912) are available for the power supply. The ship is equipped with a bow thruster .

The cargo area is box-shaped and 50.38 m long, 9.30 m wide and 6.64 m deep. The capacity is 113,200  ft ³ for bulk and general cargo . The hold is closed with hydraulically operated folding hatch covers. It can be subdivided with two bulkheads that can be erected in twelve positions. The tank cover can be loaded with 12 t per m², the hatch cover with 1.46 t per m².

The deck superstructures are located at the stern of the ship.
