The Killing Room is an American feature film of director Jonathan Liebesman from the year 2009 . The thriller portrays the course of an experiment by the government designed to train its own in response to suicide bombers in the Middle East.
action
The film begins with the setting of the NSA military psychologist Dr. Emily Reilly in a secret government experiment. She is led by Dr. Phillips instructed and assigned to evaluate the tape-recorded experiment. She is given several options to leave the program, which she refuses by signing the employment contract. Dr. Phillips points out once again that everything does not exist.
The tape shows four common people, Kerry, Tony, Crawford, and Paul, being led into a white room and instructed to fill out a questionnaire. As a reward, she expects $ 250. Dr. Phillips briefs the subjects and "begins" the experiment by shooting Kerry in the head.
During the process, Tony and Crawford are also killed, while Paul is "chosen" to take part in the second phase of the experiment. Dr. Phillips, meanwhile, clarifies Dr. Reilly on the background: The experiment is a continuation of the MKULTRA research program, which now aims to train normal American citizens to use "civilian weapons", i.e. suicide bombers. When asked how they can disregard the direct orders of two US presidents to end the MK-ULTRA program, he replies that "they" ran out of options after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 .
backgrounds
The film is based on real backgrounds: Using the MKULTRA research program, the CIA tested the possibilities of mind control between 1953 and the 1970s. The program also included human experiments in which unsuspecting, often randomly selected, test subjects were exposed to hallucinogenic drugs without their knowledge. Numerous test persons suffered severe physical and psychological damage, in some cases even death.
The film premiered on January 16, 2009 at the Sundance Film Festival and the German version was released on February 6 in Germany.
