The Expressway 16 , also known as the Ulsan Expressway ( kor. 울산 고속도로 , RR Ulsan Gosok Doro), is an expressway in South Korea . As the name suggests, this highway runs towards Ulsan , a metropolis and industrial center in the south-east of the country. The highway connects the city of Ulsan with Expressway 1 , the country's north-south axis. The highway is 14 kilometers long.

Street description

The highway begins at Eonyang Junction, west of Ulsan, the first highway north of Busan city . The motorway has 2 × 2 lanes and runs through a narrow valley in the east. Just before Ulsan is an intersection with Expressway 65 , which connects Ulsan with Busan. This is followed by the toll station and two exits. The highway ends west of Ulsan.

history

In 1962 it was decided to build a motorway to Ulsan. The reason for the construction were the large industrial complexes in the city and the connection to the interior of the country. Its construction began in 1969 when the first expressway was built. The motorway was completed on June 4, 1969 after six months of construction. On July 24, 2008, the section between the toll station and Ulsan was completed on eight lanes.
