Extraliga (Slovakia, chess) 2015/16

The Extraliga 2015/16 was the 24th season of the Slovak Extraliga in chess .

Participating teams and mode

Were at the start with SO SKM Angelus Stará Ľubovňa , ŠK Dunajská Streda , ŠK Slovan Commander Bratislava , ŠK Prakovce , SO TJ Slávia Šafárik University Košice , SKS Dubnica , TJ INBEST Dunajov , ŠK Strelec Devinska Nova Ves , Liptovská Šáchová škola and TJ Slávia CAISSA Čadca the first ten of the 2014/15 Extraliga , and REINTER Humenné and ŠK Modra were promoted from the 1st division. The twelve teams played a simple round-robin tournament on eight boards.The number of team points (three points for a win, one point for a draw, no point for a defeat), then the number of board points (one point for a Winning game, half a point for a draw game, no point for a losing game). The last two were relegated and replaced by the winners of both seasons of the 1st league.

Events

The competitions took place on October 10 and 11, November 21 and 22, 2015, January 16 and 17, February 27 and 28, and April 8, 9 and 10, 2016.

Season course

Once again, the ŠO ŠKM Angelus Stará Ľubovňa and the ŠK Dunajská Streda fought head-to-head for the title, which saw the defending champion Ľubovňa in the lead with a lead of 1.5 board points. The decision in the relegation battle was only made in the last round against ŠK Modra and TJ Slávia CAISSA Čadca . Since the champion ŠO ŠKM Angelus Stará Ľubovňa withdrew his team, the ŠK Modra achieved relegation as the best relegated.
