history

The name probably originated from the old Castrum Faitani or Fegetani , probably derived from the word faggio (= beech). The municipality joined the troops of San Marino in the war against the Malatesta of Rimini in 1463 and, together with Fiorentino , Serravalle and Montegiardino, is one of the last territorial expansions of the republic. The fortress that existed at the time was destroyed and the town's church is located in its place. The historical fortress was raised on a rock, which has been removed today.
