The Fahrenbach II - numbered so because already some 9 km further upstream, below Großalmerode , another stream of the same name in the Gelster flows - is a 4.5 km long stream in the Werra-Meissner in northern Hesse . It rises in the Kaufunger Wald from several sources on the Langenberg and the Große Cap , runs entirely in the Geo-Naturpark Frau-Holle-Land (Werra Valley , Meissner, Kaufunger Wald ) and flows into the Gelster on the left in Witzenhausen - Carmshausen coming from the west. Its catchment area is 3.948 km².
course
The Fahrenbach feeds itself from two source arms, which from several, between 460 and 540 m above sea level. Sources located near the NHN arise a little below the Red Lake . The three sources of the eastern arm of the spring (on which the creek kilometer is based) are located about 300 m northeast of the lake on the northern slope of the Langenberg ( 565 m ) at an altitude of between 460 and 482 m , and those of the western arm of the spring are about 350 m north of the Lake at 540 m above sea level on the northeast slope of the Große cap (approx. 572.5 m ), an eastern branch of the Bilstein ( 641.2 m ). The two source arms unite after about 350 m (east arm) and 400 m (west arm) flow section to the Fahrenbach.
The creek now runs for about 1.1 km through a narrow valley, wooded on both sides, to the north and then, after entering a somewhat wider meadow valley, takes two more, from the left (from the Great Cap) and right (from the slope east of the main creek ) small brooks flowing towards it. Then it turns to the northeast and after another 600 m immediately to the north it passes the Fahrenbach estate , where it once fed the moat of the small medieval castle Fahrenbach . From then on, it continues to flow in a north-easterly direction for about 1.5 km through agricultural areas (meadows and fields), accompanied by the county road 64 to its mouth .
Then the Fahrenbach enters a forest area again, leaves it after about 1 km, crosses under the federal highway 451 and flows about 60 m east of the road and not far south of the Carmshausen estate at 178 m altitude into the Werra tributary Gelster , which is approaching from the south .
