The Waldhufendorf Falken was created between 1183 and 1200 on the initiative of the Lords of Waldenburg through the settlement of Franconian farmers from the area of the Siebengebirge and the Siegtal . Around 1460 the place was first mentioned under the name Quaß , Valke or Valken in the terminating book of the Franciscan monastery in Zwickau . The place name Valken refers either to the founder of the place or to the falconry that the Lords of Waldenburg are said to have practiced here according to medieval custom. Quass, on the other hand, means drink, drink, carousing, which probably has its origin primarily in the old Richter- und Schenkgut, today's inn. During the Schönburg Peasants 'War (1652–1680), the rebels often held secret meetings in the judges' estate, as the landlord himself was one of the leaders. In 1594 the later Kummerow mill and the Uhlmann mill were built . Both are no longer in operation today.

Regarding the manorial rule , Falken belonged as an official village to the Schönburg rule of Waldenburg until the 19th century . Only the Kummerow mill was subordinate to the Callenberg manor , which in turn was under the administration of the Waldenburg rule as a vassal court. After an administrative reform was carried out in the area of the Schönburg recession in 1878, Falken came to the newly founded Saxon governorate of Glauchau in 1880 . The school building from 1840 was replaced by a handsome new building in 1912. In 1914, to mark the 50th anniversary of the gymnastics club, the place was given a gym, which is still used today by school sports and the art cyclists of the Langenberg / Falken country sports club. In 1913, the Saxon King Friedrich August III visited. the village of falcons.

As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , the Falken community became part of the Hohenstein-Ernstthal district in the Chemnitz district in 1952 (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ). Between 1950 and 1952, test drillings were carried out on nickel ore in the corridors of Falken . The municipality of Falken came to the Saxon district of Hohenstein-Ernstthal in 1990 , which became part of the Chemnitzer Land district in 1994 and the Zwickau district in 2008. On January 1, 1994 the municipalities of Langenchursdorf , Falken and Langenberg merged with Meinsdorf to form the municipality of Chursbachtal , which was incorporated into Callenberg on January 1, 1999. Since then, Falken has been one of seven districts in the community of Callenberg. The former Falken school building from 1912, which is under monument protection, has been the seat of the Callenberg community since January 1, 1999.

Church history

Ecclesiastically belongs hawks have always been parish Langenchursdorf. In 1871 the place got its own cemetery with a small chapel. Since the chapel was dilapidated at the beginning of the 20th century, a new chapel was built in 1914, in which services can also take place. Since the bell had to be given in 1917 for armament purposes, a new bell was purchased in 1920. After the renovation of the interior, the Falken Chapel received the old font from the 16th century from the Langenchursdorf church in 1978/79. In 1999 a new small electric organ was purchased from donations. The chapel survived an arson attack on January 21, 2007 without major consequences.
