Farly Yovany Gil Betancur

Farly Yovany Gil Betancur (born June 29, 1974 in Donmatías ) is a Colombian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Montelíbano .

Life

Farly Yovany Gil Betancur studied Philosophy and Catholic Theology at the Seminary in Santa Rosa de Osos . He received on 23 November 1999 by the Bishop of Santa Rosa de Osos , Jairo Jaramillo Monsalve , the sacrament of Holy Orders . Gil Betancur holds a degree in philosophy from the Fundación Universitaria Católica del Norte and a master's degree and doctorate in canon law from the Pontifical University of Xaveriana in Bogotá .

From 2000 to 2001 Farly Yovany Gil Betancur was the parish vicar of the parish of San José in Angostura and the parish of Nuestra Señora de Las Mercedes in Yarumal . In 2001 he became Prefect of the Minor Seminary in Santa Rosa de Osos. From 2004 to 2005, Gil Betancur worked as a formator at the Seminary of Santo Tomás de Aquino in Santa Rosa de Osos before becoming parish vicar of the parish of San José Obrero in Bogotá. In 2009 he was again instructor at the seminary of Santo Tomás de Aquino , whose rain he was from 2011. In 2018 Farly Yovany Gil Betancur became Associate Secretary of the Colombian Bishops' Conference .

On March 4, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Montelíbano. The Archbishop of Nueva Pamplona , Jorge Alberto Ossa Soto , ordained him episcopal on June 18 of the same year in the Cathedral of Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Chiquinquirá in Santa Rosa de Osos ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Tunja , Gabriel Ángel Villa Vahos , and the Archbishop Emeritus of Barranquilla , Jairo Jaramillo Monsalve. The inauguration took place on June 24, 2020.
