Before the 2015 territorial reform, Fatubessi had an area of 13.63 km². Now it is 16.60 km². In the east and south is the Suco Maulau and in the southwest of the Suco Maubisse . The administrative office of Aileu ( municipality of Aileu ) includes Suco Lausi , on the other side of the Oharlefa River , and the Sucos Bandudato and Fahiria , on the other side of the Daisoli . The rivers are part of the Northern Laclós system .

There are several caves in the limestone on Mount Fatubessi . Here lies the Gruta de Bakua , the deepest and longest known cave in East Timor, in a blind valley in which a sometimes dry stream ends . One possible exit of the cave is Biribui , a cave from which a stream rises. There are a total of 20 cave entrances in the area. If they were all connected to one another, they would form a cave system several kilometers in length, with a height difference of 500 meters. Many caves repeatedly served as hiding places for the local population during the Indonesian occupation (1975-1999).

Larger towns are only to the west of Fatubessi. The villages of Hohulo , Titibauria , Tutu-Fili ( Tutufili ), Caitara ( Kaitara ), Cassimidei ( Casimedi , Kasimidei ) and Rae-Buti-Lau ( Raibutilau , Raibotilau ) are located here (from north to south ). The Suco has a primary school and a helipad for emergencies.

In Fatubessi are the six Aldeias Caitara , Cassimidei, Hohulo , Rae-Buti-Lau , Titibauria and Tutu-Fili .
