Manelobas is an East Timorese suco in the Maubisse administrative office ( municipality of Ainaro ).

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Manelobas had an area of ​​8.22 km². Now there are 15.67 km². The Suco lies in the east of the Maubisse administrative office. In the south is the Suco Manetú and in the west and north of the Suco Maulau . In the east Manelobas borders on the administrative office Turiscai (municipality of Manufahi ) with its sucos Manumera and Aitemua . In the north of the Sucos lies the village of Hautei , in the north-west Cotomata ( Kotamatan ), in the east Hautilo and in the south Ernaro . The Aicocai , a tributary of the Caraulun, flows through the Suco . There is a primary school each in Ernaro and Cotomata.

In Manelobas there are the four Aldeias Cotomata , Ernaro , Hautei and Hautilo .

Residents

1276 people live in the Suco (2015), of which 651 are men and 625 women. The population density is 81.4 inhabitants / km². There are 200 households in the Suco. Over 90% of the residents state Mambai as their mother tongue. About 5% speak Tetum Prasa .

history

During the civil war in 1975 there was fighting between FRETILIN fighters from Turiscai and UDT fighters from Ermera in the Sucos Manelobas and Manetú . In neighboring Manetú, the majority of the population supported the FRETILIN, while the Liurai was a UDT supporter. Two UDT supporters were killed near Ernaro in the battle on the border river between Manelobas and Manetú. UDT units then burned down in Maneloba's houses and killed the livestock. Two UDT supporters were later captured by FRETILIN and executed in Turiscai. Another UDT supporter was beheaded in Ernaro.

politics

In the 2004/2005 elections , Eduardo Mendonça was elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections won Felismino Soares . Domingos de Andrade followed with the local elections in East Timor in 2016 .

economy

In 2011, the Suco received solar modules from the government for power supply.
