Manetú ( Manetu , Maneto ) is an East Timorese Suco in the Maubisse administrative office ( Ainaro municipality ).

Before the 2015 regional reform, Manetú had an area of ​​20.08 km². Now there are 19.31 km². In the north Manetú borders on the Suco Manelobas , in the north-west on Maulau , in the west on Edi and in the south-west on Aituto , which lies across the river Calihuno . To the east lies the Turiscai administrative office ( Manufahi municipality ) with its sucos Aitemua and Mindelo , across the Markis River . At the southern border of Manetús to the administrative office Same , the Markis flows into the Calihuno. Beyond the awning is Sames Suco Tutuluro , beyond the Calihuno Holarua . In the north, the Aicocai crosses the Suco, just like the other rivers of the Sucos, a tributary of the Caraulun .

The villages Boro-Ulo ( Boroulu , Boroulo , Boro Ulu ), Russulau ( Rusulau ), Lebo-Luli ( Lebo Luli , Lebululi ) and Dau-Lelo ( Daulelo ) are located north of a small river that flows through part of the Sucos in the northwest. . Between this river and the Markis lies on the border with Aitemua, lies the place Quiri-Coli ( Quiricoli , Kirikoli). The village of Hahi-Tali ( Hahitali ) lies on the border with Edi . In the southwest is the place Mau-Lai ( Maulai , Maulau ). There is a helipad for emergencies in Lebo-Luli and a primary school in Hahi-Tali.

In Manetú there are the seven Aldeias Boro-Ulo , Dau-Lelo , Hahi-Tali , Lebo-Luli , Mau-Lai , Quiri-Coli and Russulau .

Residents

2238 people (2015) live in the Suco, of which 1164 are men and 1074 women. The population density is 115.9 inhabitants / km². There are 351 households in the Suco. More than 95% of the population name Mambai as their mother tongue. The rest speak Tetum Prasa .

history

During the civil war in 1975 there was fighting between FRETILIN fighters from Turiscai and UDT fighters from Ermera in the Sucos Manetú and Manelobas . In Manetú the majority of the population supported the FRETILIN, while the Liurai was a UDT supporter. Two UDT supporters were killed near Ernaro in the battle on the border river between Manelobas and Manetú . On the border river to Turiscai, FRETILIN fighters murdered a villager near Boro-Ulo because he had worked for the Liurai of Manetú.

politics

In the 2004/2005 elections, Vicente de Araújo Nunes was elected Chefe de Suco. José Benevides won the elections in 2009 and Alfredo Martins in 2016 .
